“Weather is a great metaphor for life — sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s bad, and there’s nothing much you can do about it but carry an umbrella or choose to dance in the rain!” –Terri Guillemets
Life. Just like the weather it’s unpredictable. It keeps changing. Here in Ireland, you could even experience all kinds of weather in one day. In a few minutes, we have a resplendent sunny day, then an approaching sinistrous cloud unleashes a downpour of rain. Then, as fast as it comes, it disappears and the sun returns only to repeat the process over and over again.
I usually wish for that perfect sunny day. I know many of us do. We don’t like the bad weather — the cloudy and windy with lightning and thunder. But just like in life there will always be rainy days. We all know it will pass though. The only thing we could do while we are waiting for the sunny day is to enjoy life by dancing in the rain. There’s no perfect life but we can fill it with perfect moments! Really, if you want to be happy, you have to accept the changes and keep living because life is worth living.
When unexpected changes came up in my life, such as, pregnancies and miscarriages — I had no choice. I had to accept what happened, happens and just deal with it. And I can honestly say that I’ve grown as a person in those difficult times. My faith and reliance on God deepened. I learned to appreciate each day in a new way.
When a rainy day is raging in my life, I am forced to appreciate good things in the rain. I learned to change my outlook, found a new skill, and do something differently.
It won’t be easy. But you have to allow yourselves to feel the change. When you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it and shake it off and start moving forward again. Although you may not see the silver lining when you are going through the change, I promise, things will do get better. If it’s a change that seems like an ending, new beginnings are waiting ahead of you. Just keep going and you’ll see the silver lining!
“Be still and know that I am God.” –Psalm 46:10
